Good news for everyone using l10nmgr for translation workflows in TYPO3. The extension is moving forward with TYPO3 14.

The well established Localization Manager (l10nmgr) 14 is already ready for production use. At the same time, l10nmgr 13 is now publicly available in the TYPO3 Extension Repository.

This means established translation workflows can continue with the current TYPO3 versions.

And there is even more good news. A significantly expanded test suite now provides much stronger technical safeguards and creates a solid foundation for the continued development of l10nmgr.

A proven workhorse for translations

that supported TYPO3 projects for many years.

Especially on large multilingual websites, it helps to organise translation processes in a structured way. Content can be exported for translation, processed externally and then imported cleanly back into TYPO3.

That reliability is particularly valuable in day-to-day use. Once effective translation workflows are in place, they can continue with current TYPO3 versions and build on processes that have already proven themselves. For many projects, l10nmgr has therefore become a true workhorse for translation management in TYPO3. And that is exactly what we want it to remain in the future.

L10nmgr 14 is ready for TYPO3 14

With l10nmgr 14, we have adapted the extension

to TYPO3 14 and implemented the necessary technical changes. Existing features and translation workflows can therefore continue to be used reliably with the current TYPO3 version. l10nmgr 14 supports TYPO3 13 and TYPO3 14 as well as PHP 8.3 to 8.5.

The version is already ready for production use and is available through the l10nmgr 14 Access Program. The Access Program provides early production access via a private repository and combines immediate use with the continued maintenance and development of the extension.

More than 500 automated tests

provide a strong foundation

We have also taken a major step forward in the technical safeguarding of l10nmgr. The shared test suite for l10nmgr 13 and 14 now includes more than 500 automated tests.

These include unit tests and functional tests. Key areas such as import and export, XML and CAT processing, backend functionality and various controllers are tested specifically. The functional tests run against a real MySQL database using the TYPO3 Testing Framework.

For us, this is far more than an impressive number. A strong test suite provides confidence. It helps us verify changes systematically, safeguard existing functionality and keep a close eye on the quality of the extension.

At the same time, it creates a valuable foundation for further technical development. Future improvements and refactorings can be carried out on a much more thoroughly tested basis. This foundation opens up new possibilities for the next stages of development.

Supporting continued development together

Keeping a proven extension reliably available

Providing it across many TYPO3 versions requires continuous development and maintenance. New Core versions need to be supported, changes need to be tested, tests need to be maintained, issues need to be resolved and quality needs to be safeguarded continuously.

The l10nmgr 14 Access Program helps fund this work. Anyone who already needs l10nmgr for a TYPO3 14 project receives access to the production-ready version while at the same time supporting its continued maintenance and development. In this way, the Access Program combines immediate value for current projects with a long-term perspective for l10nmgr.

Further information about the l10nmgr 14 Access Program and how to take part is available on our l10nmgr information page.

L10nmgr 13 now available

publicly on Packagist and in the TER

At the same time l10nmgr 13 is freely available on Packagist and in the TYPO3 Extension Repository. The version supports TYPO3 12 and TYPO3 13 and also benefits from the significantly expanded test suite and the resulting quality assurance.

This means TYPO3 12 and TYPO3 13 projects continue to have access to a current, actively maintained public version of l10nmgr.

Well prepared

for what comes next

Requirements surrounding software maintenance and security continue to evolve. That is why we are gradually expanding our maintenance and security processes and preparing l10nmgr for upcoming requirements around software security, documentation and the responsible handling of vulnerabilities.

This also includes preparing for the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act. For us, this work is part of a long-term perspective for l10nmgr. We want it to remain what it already is for many TYPO3 projects today.

A tool they can rely on.

L10nmgr 14 is ready for production use and supports TYPO3 13 and TYPO3 14. The version is already available through the l10nmgr 14 Access Program. L10nmgr 13 is publicly available in the TYPO3 Extension Repository for TYPO3 12 and TYPO3 13. More than 500 automated tests now provide much stronger technical safeguards and create a solid foundation for continued development. At the same time, we are expanding our maintenance and security processes and preparing l10nmgr for upcoming requirements. L10nmgr is moving forward. As a proven workhorse for professional translation management in TYPO3.
